Quick Start Guide

Get up and running with Decisio in 5 minutes. By the end of this guide, you'll have created your first recorded decision.


What you'll accomplish

  1. Create a Decisio account

  2. Set up your first workspace

  3. Raise an issue for discussion

  4. Propose a motion

  5. Record the outcome

  6. View your completed resolution


Step 1: Create your account

  1. Click Get Started

  2. Enter your email address and create a password

  3. Check your inbox and click the verification link

  4. Complete your profile with your name

You're now ready to create your first workspace.


Step 2: Create a workspace

A workspace is where your team or committee makes decisions together.

  1. From the dashboard, click Create Workspace

  2. Enter a name for your workspace (e.g., "Acme Board" or "123 Main St Strata Committee")

  3. Add an optional description

  4. Click Create

Your workspace is now ready. You'll land on the workspace dashboard where all your issues and decisions will live.

Tip: Use specific names that identify your organisation or committee. You can create multiple workspaces for different teams or projects.


Step 3: Create your first issue

An issue is a topic that needs a decision from your group.

  1. Click New Issue

  2. Enter a clear title that frames the decision needed

    • Example: "Should we approve the Q1 budget proposal?"

  3. Add a description with relevant context and background

  4. Click Create

Your issue is now open for discussion.

Tip: Good issue titles are specific questions or decision points. Avoid vague titles like "Budget" or "Next steps".


Step 4: Propose a motion

A motion is a specific proposal for how to resolve the issue.

  1. Open your issue

  2. Click Propose Motion

  3. Enter the motion title - this should be an actionable statement

    • Example: "Approve the Q1 budget as presented"

  4. Add any supporting details or rationale in the description

  5. Click Submit

Your motion is now proposed and ready for a decision.


Step 5: Record the outcome

Once your team has deliberated (in a meeting, via discussion, or through voting), record the outcome.

  1. Open your motion

  2. Click Record Outcome

  3. Select the result:

    • Passed - The motion was approved

    • Failed - The motion was not approved

    • Withdrawn - The motion was removed before a decision

  4. Add any notes about the decision

  5. Click Confirm

The outcome is now recorded as part of the permanent audit trail.


Step 6: View your resolution

Congratulations! You've recorded your first governance decision.

  1. Navigate back to your issue

  2. You'll see the issue is now marked as Resolved

  3. Click View Resolution to see the complete record

Your resolution includes:

  • The original issue and context

  • The motion that was proposed

  • The outcome and when it was recorded

  • Who recorded the decision

This forms your audit trail - a permanent, defensible record of what was decided.
